Chairman and Founder of the AADF and Curator of Mia Mia Gallery, Colin McKinnon-Dodd, has spent more than 15 years advocating and promoting the issues related to Aboriginal artists including the potential and real issues of exploitation of these artists. Colin has invested his time and life savings into raising the awareness of this plight and continually working with Aboriginal artists from all around Australia to ensure they are not only receiving their just rewards from the inspiring work they are creating but also to develop theories and methods to create ongoing protection of the artwork and the rights of the artists. He has worked tirelessly to research methods to achieve this and recently joined forces with the newly established Design Factory at Swinburne University to further this work through a specialised program that is currently being developed by members of the Design Factory. With the support of Elizabeth (Dori) Tunstall from Swinburne, also committee members of the AADF, as well as other partners currently being established, the prospects of seeing the Aboriginal Smart Art Project come to fruition in the near future has become a reality.
We will continue to make updates as we progress and if you would like to support this endeavor and feel like you can offer something to this project please contact us via our Contact page.
